Antique Wheel

A few months ago, I paid $250 for a wheel unseen (just some blurry photos) and untested from Craigslist. The details were vague. Yes, it spins freely, no wobbles, and lots of hooks.

Today, Pam and I went to San Diego to picked it up. It is dirty and has a lot of surface imperfections, but it has good bones and all the parts are working. I’m pleased I haven’t made a serious blunder and look forward to restore this baby. I would love to have a Canadian Production Wheel someday but this little Saxony wheel will do just fine for now.

Cleaning the shellac with denatured alcohol.

The colors are faded but still quite lovely.
