What a fabulous day. We had a wonderful time at our monthly spinning guild where Judy gave a fabulous program on the history of her pre-civil war wheel moving from the east coast to California. What a heartwarming story and I hope she will post it for everyone to enjoy.
I came home and look what has been waiting for me. A Jay from Jenkins in holly. The Jay spindle has the same arms as the Lark but the wings sit lower on the shaft hence lower center of gravity. It spins fast and long. Holly is usually creamy white, but this one has the black slashes along the ring of the wood and it is so lovely. This spindle weights 20 gm.
