Route 66 – Sand Dunes

There are some small but encroaching sand dunes not too far from the Barstow train station. The sand is beautiful at sunset, showing lines and shadows and a beautiful golden hue.

Lost in the sand is a house that only one wall was standing due to a fire and vandalism. The desert has taken over and it was difficult to capture the feeling of loss. But the light was right and someone left a old shoe on a post and this picture captures a sense of desolation.
